Poem – in his arms

in his arms, she has no defense,
nor does she need or want one

his hand resting on the back of her neck,
under the blanket of her beautiful hair,
pacifies both of them

her logical mind lay sleeping,
as her heart guides her thoughts and body

even when she has left him,
she still feels him cradling and rocking her

their embrace brings the deepest sigh
from them both

she rests her head against his chest,
closes her eyes, and the cocoon of his
enveloping arms shelters her,
and she is finally at peace

her one desire is to give herself to him,
a feeling she has never felt or dreamt of, and she is
surprised by the endless physical and emotional aching for him,
when he is not near

his hand strokes her delicate face and body,
and all of her pain is drawn out of her
through his fingertips,

they make love until all that remains
is their love, wet skin and souls mating between them,
their exhausted bodies and hearts feeling the same as the first time,
and ecstasy in every form
