His school-teacher wife had gotten the text about 4:30 a.m. that school would be closed due to snow.
She awoke at 6:10am to see the silhouette of her husband getting dressed to go to the gym.
She said in a whisper and with a sexy smile: “Oh no! You're coming back to bed with me right now young man. The only exercise you will have today is in this bed with me. For many years I spent my snow days alone. That will never happen again.”
She pulled the blankets down.
He looked towards her, it was just light enough to see her sly smile, gorgeous green eyes and the silhouette of her perfect hourglass figure.
She said: “So get undressed and get back in this bed with me.
We haven't had a snow day together in a long time!”
So he did exactly as he was told. When he was single he never had to listen to anyone, well except his mother of course.
He still couldn’t fully believe he finally found his wife. Someone who lived to take care of him as he did her. He always believed he deserved true love, but knew God needed to do his part to help.
He had dreamed of moments like this for decades, where a beautiful loving and sexy woman demanded he undress and get into bed with her.
Then one day, she was right in front of him, literally, waiting to pay her check at the diner.
He heard her voice and it gave him butterflies in his stomach. A voice had never done that to him before. There she was, standing at a diner counter paying her bill. She was chatting with the cashier. There was a true joy in her voice that is still one of the most attractive things about her.
He didn't see a ring on her finger.
He heard God in his head say: “All right, I just did my part, don’t mess this up!”
So he followed her outside and said: “Excuse me Miss.”
His voice gave her butterflies in her stomach. That never happened before.
She said: “Yes sir, how can I help you?"
He said: “Everyday, for many decades, I have ended my daily prayer with one request to God. I simply ask him to please put my wife in front of me and I will do the rest.
So I am now doing the rest hopefully! Can we get some coffee or get married sometime?
Just hearing your voice did things to my body I never felt before.”
As he said this, he realized that maybe he was being “too much” with a perfect stranger. So many people had told him to tone himself down a little as at first a woman may be put off by his directness.
Deep down though he knew that his wife would understand him perfectly from the first and he just needed to be himself. She would expect that.
She said: “I think my body is having the same reaction. How about we have that coffee date right now.”
They walked back into the diner and spent the next 6 hours together.
2 months later they were married. That was 5 years ago.
When he was an empty nester he had spent every snow day by himself.
Finding his wife had happened the way he always hoped it would happen. No online dating, no hiking groups, no speed dating, no matchmakers, no swiping left or right.
Just one day God put her in front of him. Before they met, every morning he ended his daily meditation and prayers with the same request to God.
“God all you need to do is put her in front of me and I'll do the rest.”
So he obeyed his wife, undressed and got back into their marital bed.
She laid on top of him and rested her head on his chest.
He pulled the blankets completely over them and they talked in secret whispers the way lovers do.
He wrapped his arms around her and rested his hands at the base of her back.
She whispered “Isn't this so much better?”
Just before she fell back asleep she said: “Thank God I found you.
I looked for you for so long and then one day God just put you in front of me. I still can't believe it.”
Her voice started the trail off a little bit. She sighed and yawned and her respirations became slower and lower.
He loved feeling her entire body weight on him and so much of her skin pressed against his. With the blankets over them it was as if they were in a tight chrysalis becoming one being.
After he made sure she was asleep he let himself fall asleep too.
It was the greatest snow day ever.
