Story – Her True Home

She fell asleep in her current home, just as she had done for decades.

First as a married woman, then as a single mother.

She loved this house so much. All of her important memories were here.

She was proud of it and what she had done here and made of it.

It was like a protective impenetrable fortress and it defined so much of who she was.

She slept and dreamed. No, it was more like a vision.

She was standing in an empty house she had just bought.

The old house, her house, was now owned by some other lovely family.

In her vision she stood in the foyer of this new and strange house.

She was so afraid that she would never feel at home.

There was so much fear getting to this point, because she had never done such big adult things like buying or selling houses by herself.

She stood there alone, shaking. Unable to take another step.

She looked around and said “This is some other family’ home.”

She wanted to turn and run away.

The new house, also feeling strange at this wonderful creature standing inside it, suddenly realized that her true owner was now here finally!

And look at the beautiful cats she brought!

The new house always wanted cats.

The house did all she could to envelope this new owner in the strongest “at home” feeling she could muster.

The new owner stood in the foyer with tears in her eyes.

She had gone through so much and did so much for so many others for so long.

It was during these quiet solitary moments where her smile could rest, and her life’s exhaustion rushed out of her in the form of many tears.

Tears, she made sure, no one else could ever see.

She was suddenly enveloped in a chrysalis of warmth, serenity, peace and security.

Her true final home was welcoming her.

This is where she was meant to be all along.

Her tears stopped and a broad smile appeared.

She realized this home was all hers and her children’s and grandchildren’s.

She set about making new and better memories that would eclipse all the others from her old house.

She woke up from her dream/vision in her bed in her old house.

Her trepidation, procrastination and fears were gone.

She listed her old house and began her search for her true home that was shown to her in her dream/vision.

In less than 60 days she stood in the exact foyer she had been shown in her sleep.

She was suddenly enveloped in a chrysalis of warmth, serenity, peace and security.

Her true final home welcomed her and her cats.

She was never afraid of anything again.
